Somehow, somewhere I lost a small but "specialized" tackle box consisting of panfish and trout lures. I am in the process of replacing this tackle box and it is ongoing and expensive. What's more, there were lures in that box that can not be replaced. Those that can be found may cost as much as 300% more than when first purchased.
Sure do hope that we soon have some open water and the replacements are 1/2 as good as the "old" ones. Also hope these new lures meet my "old" buddies and the fishing is better (for me) than last year which was a disaster for me.
Looking forward to seeing you out there. Good luck and good fishing.

That goes for me too!!! Sure hope to see you too!!! What is really sad is the fact that I saw you more than anyone else. It was almost a true fishless fishing season.

Yea I had my buddy knock mine into 40 feet of water about 2 years ago and it sunk like a rock... since then I specialized a small cooler to use as a my tackle box... it floats :)

I wonder if they make life vests for tackle boxes? You know, the kind that inflate if it's submerged? Laughing1

I just saw a new "fly box" that is water-proof but it's big $$$$$$. One problem: If you drop it in fast water, it doesnt sink, it just floats all the way to the ocean [or lake ]. Grinning1 I think that Cabela's sells them.

I glued a piece of styrofoam into the top of my fishing boxes that are not attached to my kayak so if I flip it I have a chance of recovering the box.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune fishinbuddy. You may not remember me and my buddy jackson, but we met you last summer at Willard's quarry and you directed us to this site. I hope to see you out there again this year.
Thanks to everyone who posted about how they keep their tackle boxes afloat. I'm trying out kayaking this year, and as a bigger, clumsier guy I expect that I may tip at some point.

My buddy uses the small plastic travel boxes that you get with gitzets and jig sets and what not and on his Kyak he has it rigged with industrial velcro (the kind that you need to really work at to pull off) and he just has one or 2 of his tackle boxes velcored right infront of him... says he's never had a problem. Also the good thing about it is you don't need to keep the box in your seat and it is easily accessable because it sits right in front of you.

it's like the kind of velcro that they give you with your fastpass on the pike that is a pain to dislodge your fastpass from.

Eureka!!!! I took a long hard look at my messy tackle place and LO AND BEHOLD I found my long lost tackle box. It only had 33 lures in it. I thought there were more than 40 in it, but like I said it was a small one.
I am happy and thanks for everything (guys) and hope to see many more you this coming open water fishing season
