I am thinking about having a Tournament once a week on the Ct. River. After seeing all the reports from various members I am sure we could work out some details ect. Maybe make the tournament start at 5:00 p.m. and end at dark or a little later. We could hold the tournament in several locations. Depending upon the amount of members interested we might have to pull a permit. I kinda thinking about adopting the Congamond Thursday Night Tourny Idea. But since we don't have to pay at any of the launches that I know of to fish we could make it $10.00 per person and winner take all.

I am open to suggestions to get the ball rolling. Could be fun, and a great way to unwind after or well if you going to work wake up.

That would be cool. I was thinking along the lines of something similiar too. Like having more get togethers etc. but not nessarily with all the planning and all. Like just have a couple boats meet up and fish with each other talk and have a good time. Meeting new people and friends is always great and fishing alone pretty much stinks.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Trying different places for different species each week will give more people an opportunity to participate.

Okay here is what I've been thinking about doing. Time is not standing still so the sooner we decide the faster we can get this up and running.

Since its almost close to the end of summer and having two weeks left in August and the whole month of September I was thinking about running a Friday Night Tourny starting at 5:00 pm and going till dark. We can always stay out after dark and that can be decided on at the ramp. We can fish different locations for different species of fish. We can fish for fun, and bragging rights or we can fish for some money. I was thinking of ten dollars per person. That way there would usually be a good pay out if a bunch of anglers showed up. For now this would only be open to Maangler.com members and family.

So where do you guys want to have the first Maanglers.com Friday Night Tourney to be held? Since the Maanglers outing is this weekend we can start with Friday August 18, 2006, Friday August 25, 2006, Friday September 1, 2006, Friday September 8, 2006, Friday Sepember 15, Friday September 22, 2006, and Friday September 29, 2006.

If you guys didn't mind if everyone picked a date and a location. The person who chooses the date/location would run the Tourny for that evening.

There is a small big fish T on Thursday evenings at the (Oxbow) public ramp on the river. It is run by a buddy of mine it costs $5 per person fish alone or with a buddy. Be ther by 5:30 that is what time we start. Usually have around 10 people fish until dark.

This way nobody has to take on running it. We already have one.
Plus it is a way to get maanglers.com out there. (networking)

Personnally I'd like to fish the lower river.

I might take a run up to you guys on Thursday night then instead of fishing on Congamond Tourny. Does he run this weekly for the summer? If so when is the last tourny. If you'd like I'll post in in the calender section so it gets more publicity.

Is there going to be the mini tourney this thursday at the ox-bow? If there is I'm in and I'll have an open seat if someone wants to go. Not too familiar with the river in that area but know the ox-bow pretty good. post if it's on.

I pm'ed Smalliehunter with some questions. If I don't get any news I'm gonna stick with fishing Congamond Tourny Thursday Night.

We can set something up for Friday August 18, if you guys want.

Where do you guys want to fish? I'll go anywhere.

I recieved your PM but I was away from my computer. My brother and I will be there tomorrow night.

Sorry Smalliehunter but I won't be making it up there tonight. I've gotta fish the Congamond Tourney a buddy of mine and I are prefishing it before a rather big tournament in September for some decent $$$$, and we need some practice at the muck. Hope the fish cooperate for you guys tonight, maybe next week.

just be careful in Mass, if you use a public ramp, you are supposed to have a permit EVERY week so if they get caught at the Oxbow, someone Will get a ticket. If you make it a big fish tourney you could get around the permit by having the weigh in on an island like the one in front of Mitch's or maybe on the peninsula in the oxbow by the marina, there is a nice sandy area there.

Thanks Gary I think I'm gonna hold off on this and work on it over the winter. That way I can get everyones input, and pull out the permit accordingly for the locations that we are gonna fish. I would like to keep it on Friday Nights starting at 5:00 p.m. and as summer burns along and as fall creeps in slowly change times according to the sunset.

if you want to get a feel for it, try the one out of the Enfield ramp every Weds, 5 bucks per man, big fish wins, usually 3-3.75 takes it.

Smalliehunter pm me a couple of weeks ago concerning a Tournament that he will be running next year on the Ct. River. So far here are the details.

Tournament out of the Oxbow and chicopee ramps on the connecticut river next year. Probablly on Wendsay or Thursday evenings.
We will alternate between the 2 ranps as the water level permits. Start time will be 5:30 til sunset. I will be pulling a permit for this so there is no worry about everything being legit. Gary P was right in his post, don't wanna get made an example of Wink1.

So far this is what I've come up with:

$5-10 entry fee.
A 1 time fee from every participant of $10 with all moneies collected to go to the biggest fish caught for the year. I will keep a record of everyones weight for and send it out after the Tournament to all participants for review.

This is a definite thing that I and about 8 others will be doing next year. So keep us in mind I will post more often as I have more time.

If he doesn't mind I'll post a running leader board for the biggest fish, along with results for each tourney. Sounds like a good time and I'll try to make it to everyone of them.
