Leaping blue marlin impales mate
<!--begin paragraph-->According to CNN.com, on Saturday, 32-year-old Ian Card was impaled by a blue a marlin while fishing off of Bermuda. Card, and his father, Alan Card, had just hooked the estimated 800-pound fish when it jumped over the transom. The bill stabbed Ian under the collar bone while the fish was in mid flight. Ian was dragged into the water, where he pulled himself off the bill.

“The fish made a leap and Ian just happened to be in the way,” said Ian’s father, Alan Card, who was captaining the vessel.
Alan Card cut the line and brought his son back aboard. They made it to shore in 40 minutes, where the younger Card received emergency treatment and was stabilized. “He was very lucky,” Dr. Christian Wilmsmeier told CNN.com. “It was a very serious injury.”
