Hey guys,
Didn't know if there would be any interest in remote starts here with the cold weather coming in. I used to do car install for a living a few years back. I now have a new career where I'm not constantly wedged under the dash of a car everyday, but I still do a few on the side for family and friends every year.

I get some good Directed Electronic pieces (maker of Viper, Rattler, Avital) and I can almost always under cut the big box retailers. Can certainly come to your home and do it also able to be done as a stealth install for a surprise Christmas gift. I live in Westfield so for most of the valley, its not a long trip. Didn't know if anyone had any interest.

PM me if you're interested and I can give you all the necessary info. I do most vehicles but, there are a few that I won't do, because hey, this is a hobby/spare time gig and some cars are just not worth any amount of money. Plus this is another way for me to meet some more members.

thanks Derek

Dave,
Send me a PM with the year and model of the vehicle. I can do most vehicles for somewhere between $150 and $200 no problem.

PMs sent to all others,
thanks and it looks like I should have ordered more stockSmashhead

someone told me you can now do them on stds? is that true? how do you engage the clutch?

Yes, you can do them on standards. Most clutches have switch that when the pedal is depressed completes a circuit of either 12 volts or ground, finding that wire and applying the necessary ground or voltage will engage the start system. But you also should put in a module or have a unit that has a standard mode where you have to complete some sort of sequence to ensure that the car has been parked in nuetral and has the e-brake set. Generally the sequence entails setting and release the e-brake a predetermined amount of times while stepping on the brake and turning the vehicle off. This while alert the unit that the vehicle is indeed in neutral and the e-brake has been set and that is in a safe state for a remote start condition.

Just had Derek install one on my Ford. Very satisfied both with Avital remote and with Dereks installation and instuctions. If your thinking about a remote start you won't do better....Thanks again Derek..Thumbsup

Guys,
Just got another batch of starters in. Paul, thanks for the feedbackThanks1 .
To eliminate so many PMs, I can do most cars without a transponder/chipped key for $160 installed, that is for 2 remotes, keyless entry (some newer vehicles will need additional parts for keyless) and remote start.

For vehicles with a chipped key, for almost all vehicles, it can be done for $180 for the above along with the transponder bypass.
