I inherited my boat from my Uncle when he passed on a couple of years ago. He always registered it in VT because he used to fish up there and he also claimed that a VT boat Reg. is reciprical with MA Reg. I have continued to do the same and renew the reg. every year in VT but I solely fish is MA. Someone questioned the legality of what I was doing the other day and now I question if this is allowed? I talked to a lady at a VT Registry and she "thought" it was right to do what I was doing...but she didn't sound to confident.
Any Clarity would be great!!!!!!!!!! Don't want any trouble!!!!!!!!!

I would have to assume because you inhereted the boat your uncle has passed on. If he has passed on then his registration is technically not valid anymore. If he was alive and the owner it would be legal to operate his boat anywere. Because the ownership of the boat has passed on to you and you are a mass resident you need to register it in mass.
You might be able to get away with using it untill the VT sticker expires and not get caught even if you are checked but then again they might catch it.
