Get a delco voyager, I think its like 80 bucks for a size 27 and 120 or so for a 30. Call West Springfield Auto Parts, they carry them. Best conventional deep cell you can buy!

I did some research before I bought my new one for the trolling motor. All the info I read said you are better off with a good conventional wet cell battery than the new gel cell batteries. It said the most common mistake is in re-charging the battery. Invest in a good multi-stage charger that is made for deep cell batteries and reduces the amperage as the charge in the battery comes up.

I totally agree with noresman on the battery selection. However, do yourself a favor and look into a "Stay n' Charge" system. Go to: www.stayncharge.com. With this, you just plug in your boat to your tow vehicle and your batteries are charged by your trucks alternator on the way home, or to the next lake. Works fine for me and is VERY cost effective. For the two batteries I have hooked up in parallelon my rig, the system only cost $49.00. And never again do you have to look for a 110 V outlet when you get home.
