Where exactly is the boat launch on the CT. River in SunderlandNotsure , if you don't mind sharing. Thinking of heading up there this weekend with my brother and a friend of his. They rarely get to fish from a boat, and I thought some smallie action might be just what the Dr. orderedFishing1 . I'd be coming up rt.91 from West side.
Thanks'

Tacoma, you have to park at the library which you will pass on your way to the ramp. What kind of boat do you have and tow vehicle? You are looking for trouble if you don'y know your way around! there is only 1 small channel through the bridge to go down river, it is on the deerfield side betweeen the first and second pillar. from the upstream side you have to go at a 45 degree angle down by the top of the pillar because there is a ridge that comes from shore almost all the way out to the pillar. Do not attempt to go under the bridge anyware but here! once through you can fish the Deerfield side all the way down to the powerlines about 1 mile. If you venture to the other side watch your depth as it is very shallow. You can run on plane as long as you have a boat with power trim down the Deerfield side. Going up river you can stay on plane until the 2nd island. Do not go on plane once you reach the mid point of the island on the left side! You may not make it further than that, if you do, don't run on plane above it until you learn the channel, there are many rock shoals and gravel bars up there. The fishing is good both up and down. Be careful!!!!!! Also the water usually drops 2-3 ft during the day! when you leave the ramp, do it on trolling motor, if the water is low, sometimes you have to get out and push your boat over the sand bar that extends from the island all the way to the bridge! do not attempt to go up the narrow side of the first island, you won't make it through the top. Good Luck out there!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 14' Starcraft with a 9.9 Johnson...sounds really tricky, don't know if I should risk it now??? Looks like great fishing but don't want to ruin the boat...Heres a pic...should I be good if I take my time?

You should be ok. If you take your time. But I should have not tore up 2 propsBash1 in the last 5 years. Some of the gravel bars can sneek up on you real fast.(even at "15" mph") Keep yourYikesYikes eyes open.

That boat is perect for the sunderland stretch, just print my reply and folow it! If you don't have a fish finder just go slower and look out!

of course it is a V-hull with stick steering so you won't be able to trim it up and it will require a little more water, just make sure you have a spare prop and a wrench if you hit!
